What Can We do To Stop Abortion ???
We can pray about the situation. It is ultimately a spiritual battle (Eph. 6:10-12 "Finally draw your strength from the lord and from his mighty power. Put on the armor of God against the tactics of the devil. for our struggle is not with flesh and blood but but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens). Pray for pro-life judges to receive Senate confirmation, especially to the Supreme Court. Pray for the horrors of abortion to become obvious to our self-centered culture. Pray for Christians to get involved in the pro-life cause.
(2) We can vote for pro-life candidates. Don’t vote for pro-abortion candidates. You ask, “Are you a one-issue voter?” I grant that being pro-life does not qualify a person as a good political leader. But being pro-abortion should disqualify anyone from public office. For example, if a candidate said, “I believe that black people should not hold public office,” that one issue should disqualify the candidate from office. Why doesn't favoring killing babies disqualify a candidate? The person who favors abortion is an immoral person!
(3) We can write our legislators and the newspaper to support the pro-life cause. Hold them accountable!
(4) We can support the pro-life cause with our money and time. Godly women are needed to counsel young women with problem pregnancies, so that they choose life for their babies. Godly families that are able should consider taking in such young women and helping them carry their babies to term. There are many ways to get involved.
IN OTHER WORDS, A WOMAN CAN KILL HER CHILD IN THE WOMB LEGALLY FOR ANY REASON RIGHT UP TO THE MOMENT OF BIRTH.
Facts About Abortion
Fact: In the United States it is legal to abort a baby up until the day of birth.
Fact: In a Partial Birth Abortion (D and X procedure) babies are "partially aborted" so the head is still in the cervix but the body is out. While in this position the live baby is still considered a "non-human" and has no protection under the law. The live baby’s brains are sucked out after being crushed by blunt instruments. Organs are harvested and sold to "researchers". The baby receives no anesthesia and is alive until killed by the doctor.
Fact: Every day in America over 3,000 babies die painful deaths by suction abortion, dismemberment, being torn limb from limb, prostaglandin hormones and now by being brutally killed seconds before delivery.
Fact: Abortion has two victims - the baby and the mother. Many women who have abortions suffer both physically and mentally. Depression, anxiety, grief, infection, sterility and even death can result from abortion.
Fact: Nearly all abortions are done for reasons of convenience, not for any medical or physical reason.
As American Christians, we have become so comfortable in our lovely buildings and padded pews. We have beautiful fellowship halls for our many banquets. We have the latest sound equipment for our praise and worship. We have computers to keep our records. We gather together each week and shut ourselves inside our buildings. We raise our voices as loud as we can in the name of God.
And yet, in the heavenly realm, our voices raised in praise are drowned out by screams of agony from millions of babies who are being executed before they are born. We can’t see them. We can’t hear them. But it is happening as you read this!
Babies are being aborted up until the day of birth in this country. Their organs and brains are "harvested" for use in medical experimentation. In Wichita, Kansas, the smoke stack from the furnace of Dr. Tiller’s abortion clinic belches black smoke and the sickening smell of burning flesh. These are the bodies of preborn 7th, 8th, and 9th month old babies being "disposed of."
If the Christians in the old man’s church had done something, they probably would have been killed. That is not the case with us today. We don’t even have that excuse for our silence.
Since God is the creator and sustainer of human life, we should value and protect the lives of all innocent humans. Pre-natal human life is fully human and thus precious to God. To view babies as inconvenient to the point of killing them is beyond cruel, inhuman and above all violates Jesus’ view of children. The Bible condemns the shedding of innocent life
Genesis 9:6 - Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man his blood shall be shed, for in the image of God He made man
Deuteronomy 27:25a - Cursed is he who accepts a bribe to strike down an innocent person.
Proverbs 6:16-19 - There are six things which the LORD hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood...
What has Happened to this generation??? Early church leaders recognized the Bible’s prohibition of abortion.
"Thou shalt not slay the child by procuring abortion; nor, again, shalt thou destroy it after it is born" (Letter of Barnabas 19 from 74 AD).
"…And these were the accursed who conceived and caused abortion" (The Apocalypse of Peter 25, 137 AD).
"You shall not procure abortion, nor destroy a newborn child" (Didache 2:1 from 150 AD).
"There are some women among you who by drinking special potions extinguish the life of the future human in their very bowels, thus committing murder before they even give birth." (Mark Felix, Christian Lawyer, Octavius chap. 30 from 170 AD).
"The law of Moses, indeed, punishes with due penalties the man who shall cause abortion (see Ex. 21:22) Tertullian, 210 AD.
"Now we allow that life begins with conception because we contend that the soul also begins from conception; life taking its commencement at the same moment and place that the soul does" (Tertullian, Apology 27 from 210 AD).
"Women also who administer drugs to cause abortion, as well as those who take poisons to destroy unborn children, are murderesses." (First Canonical Letter from 374 AD).
"The law, moreover enjoins us to bring up all our offspring, and forbids women to cause abortion of what is begotten, or to destroy it afterward; and if any woman appears to have so done, she will be a murderer of her child, by destroying a living creature, and diminishing humankind." "Some go so far as to take potions, that they may insure barrenness, and thus murder human beings almost before their conception.
